Join the Choir (or not!)

Yule Duel, British Columbia’s largest outdoor caroling competition has returned to Gastown!

I heard about it for the first time last year after friends of mine talked about “singing Christmas Carols for a cause”. A previous commitment prevented me from going but I wasn’t about to miss it again this year.

Yesterday, I took my family to watch dozens of amateur choirs perform on the street of Gastown. What a night! What an experience!

It was interactive, with a donation getting you a ballot to vote. It was fun, meandering around listening to all of the different choirs and pretending that your opinion mattered. It was beautiful, I don’t know about you but Gastown on a winter’s night, is one of my favorite places. And it must be good for business as nothing works up an appetite like walking the streets and judging carolers 😉

It is still the beginning of the month and I am sure there are zillions of Christmas events coming up all over the lower mainland. So keep participating and making unforgettable memories throughout this special season. Bring along your family, friends or even colleagues as you continue (or start)  to enjoy this joyful time of the year and make it another magical one!
